Caramilk Cookies | Cooking With Duke

Colourful Pasta Necklaces are so last year! This Mother's Day, we are AAAALL about the Caramilk Choc Chip Cookies, and Chef Duke "Hudson" Deacon is here to show you the easiest, most perfect way to whip them up.

For Aussie, Canadian and U.S. Mama's, Mother's Day falls on the 2nd Sunday of May each year, and as much as perfume, fluffy slippers and dressing gowns are oh so adored, we think there's nothing more special than something handmade with love!

We know that our amazing super Dad’s sometimes struggle with Mother’s Day gift ideas unless we drop MEGA hints for them (AKA- write them the list, and look, let’s be real… are you even a Mum if you haven’t had to buy your own Mother’s Day pressie at least once?!) And Sash will be the first to admit that she's a total sucker for anything made by the boys...which is why we threw it to our resident, in-house chef, Dukey boy to come up with a recipe of his own to make Mama's day extra sweet with Sash's FAV Caramilk Choc Chip Cookies that Duke just loveees making for her!

Enter, Chef Duke's Famous Mother's Day Caramilk Choc Chip Cookies!!

Scroll on down for the action on Youtube, full recipe and ingredients, then watch these chewy fuss-free, gooey and oh so delissssh cookies come to life in the Deacon Kitchen. And for those Mama's who want to pass this one over to Hubby, Grandma or the older siblings...all they need to do is help set out the ingredients, turn on the oven + let Duke do the rest!
Bon Appetite fam!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

150g butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups plain flour
1/2 cup caramilk chocolate bits
1/2 cup white chocolate bits

HOW TO MAKE THEM

Step 1: Preheat oven to 180℃ or 160℃ fan-forced and line 2 baking trays with baking paper.

Step 2: Using the help of a parent/guardian, measure out the ingredients into separate bowls.

Chef Duke’s Hot Tip: This will ensure you get the consistency right and don’t get confused!

Step 3: Add the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla into a bowl and mix until well combined.

Step 4: Then add the flour into the bowl and mix well. Remember – this is where muscles are made!!

Chef Duke’s Hot Tip: Hold the wooden spoon handle at the base of the spoon for maximum stirring strength!!

Step 5: Next, stir in caramilk and white chocolate choc bits.

Step 6: Roll 2 level tablespoons of mixture into balls and place on prepared trays, one finger-width apart. Press down slightly.

Chef Duke’s Hot Tip: It’s really important to spread them out on the tray because they expand in the oven!

Step 7: Bake for 15-18 mins or until lightly golden + cooked through. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Step 8: EEEEAAATTTTTT!!!
